Adam (played by Mark Ruffalo) is a sex addict, a condition that brings significant trauma to his body and mind, misunderstood and controversial in society. Fortunately, the strong-willed Adam does not succumb to despair; while actively cooperating with treatment, he also strictly controls his desires. To this day, he has been living a completely abstinent life for five years. Around Adam, there are many people who share similar experiences; they refer to each other as "family," helping and supporting one another. One day, Adam meets a girl named Phoebe (played by Gwyneth Paltrow), whose beauty and cheerfulness quickly capture his attention. However, this is when the problems begin. Faced with the sexy Phoebe, Adam starts to feel the urge and pain brought on by his out-of-control hormones once again. Is it simply a pathological response, or true love?
