Neo-Nazi skinhead Adam (played by Ulrich Thomsen) is sent to a remote church for community service, where he encounters various strange characters. However, the most difficult challenge for him is the devout and strict priest Ivan (played by Mads Mikkelsen). The rebellious Adam finds himself at a loss in front of Ivan. As part of his service, Adam chooses to tend to an apple tree and agrees with the priest to make an apple pie using the harvest from the autumn. However, various disasters and misfortunes continuously threaten the growth of the apples. Ivan believes this is the work of the devil, while Adam thinks it is merely a prank from God... This film was nominated for Best Screenplay at the 2005 European Film Awards and for Best Film and Best Supporting Actor at the 2006 Danish Critics Awards. Mads Mikkelsen won the Zulu Award for Best Actor for his role as the priest.
