Miles (played by Woody Allen) was originally the owner of a food store, when he accidentally got frozen during a hospital visit, staying frozen for two hundred years. Two hundred years later, Miles awakens from his slumber, and the world has undergone tremendous changes, with a brutal totalitarian ruler meticulously controlling the lives and deaths of his people. Miles, having "materialized out of thin air," clearly becomes a highly unstable factor in this society. Thus, Miles becomes the number one wanted criminal, pursued by the police, and embarks on a journey of escape. During this process, he disguises himself as a robot and infiltrates the home of a woman named Luna (played by Diane Keaton), witnessing her absurd way of life. Afterward, when Miles' identity is exposed, he kidnaps Luna, but the two deeply attract each other during their time together. In the end, Miles is captured, while Luna inadvertently meets the leader of the rebels and joins the ranks of the uprising.
