In the scorching summer vacation, the girls still have to attend remedial classes at school. Unable to sit still, they volunteer to deliver lunch to the brass band cheering for the baseball team. On their way, they are giggling and laughing, but they realize just before arriving that the lunchboxes have gone bad due to the heat. Oblivious to this, the brass band members eat the lunch and later experience discomfort, leading Nakahara, the only one who didn't eat, to demand the girls take responsibility and form a jazz band.
