Turner (Dexter Gordon) was once a very famous saxophonist, but now, in his old age, he hides in a high-end nightclub in New York, performing for the entertainment of guests. Unable to bear the days of being neglected, Turner eventually leaves the nightclub and heads to Paris, where he joins the first group of Black musicians, which quickly gains fame after several very successful performances. Francis (François Cluzet) is a poor advertising designer who is deeply captivated by Turner's playing, and by chance, the two meet. Francis is shocked to discover that Turner has almost no ability to take care of himself in daily life and is constantly being deceived by bad women, so Francis rents a small apartment for Turner, where he takes care of his daily needs.
