In Nagasaki, Japan, 50-year-old Okano Yuichi (played by Iwamatsu Ryo) is like a child who never grows up. He drifts through his job, getting by day by day, and prefers to sing in bars and create manga. In his daily life, Yuichi lives with his elderly mother, Sanegi (played by Akagi Harue), and his son, Masaki (played by Owada Kensuke). The father and son often leave the old lady alone at home while they go earn money. Sanegi has had Alzheimer's disease for many years, leading to disorientation and increasingly challenging situations that keep Yuichi and his son busy.
