Nick, played by Josh Hutcherson, is an inexperienced college student who travels to Colombia with his brother to surf and falls in love with a local girl, Maria, who happens to be the niece of drug lord Pablo Escobar. This leads Nick into Escobar's drug network and makes him one of Escobar's trusted confidants. As the government begins a large-scale investigation and crackdown on drug trafficking organizations, Escobar's suspicions grow, putting Nick's situation in jeopardy...Benicio Del Toro plays drug lord Pablo Escobar, who was a historical figure. He was Colombia's infamous "King of Cocaine" and died in 1993 during a police operation in Colombia.
