The story takes place in 1929, where George (played by Bradley Cooper) and his newlywed wife Selina (played by Jennifer Lawrence) journey to the deep mountains of North Carolina, determined to build their own timber empire. Facing harsh living conditions, the newcomer Selina shows remarkable strength, mastering snake-catching and hunting, proving herself equal to her husband, and even saving his life during an accident.
