Dian (Sigourney Weaver) is a wildlife expert specializing in gorillas. To better observe and approach them, Dian ventures alone into the untouched forests of the Virunga Mountains in Rwanda, Africa. Gorillas are known for their fierce and wild nature, meaning that every moment spent near them puts Dian's life at risk. Over time, the distance between Dian and the gorillas diminishes; by mimicking their calls and behaviors, she gradually gains the trust and recognition of the gorilla community and uncovers many precious insights and information. In the primal forest, poachers are rampant, and Dian spends her life in relentless battle against them, creating many enemies. One day, her body is discovered in her room, with evidence indicating that this great scientist has been murdered.
