This film consists of four short stories. "Ninety-Nine" depicts a robust artisan who encounters a sudden downpour in the mountains and takes refuge in a shrine, only to discover an unexpected world inside. Surrounded by discarded umbrellas and silk, the artisan is unafraid and uses his needle and thread to repair these sorrowful old objects. "Fire Needs to Be Pacified" tells the story of young Ryo (voiced by Saori Sajou) and her childhood friend, Narumitsu (voiced by Naruhito Morita), who have mutual feelings for each other despite their different social backgrounds. Just before her wedding, Ryo accidentally ignites a candle, but in that moment, she suddenly stops thinking of extinguishing the fire and calling for help. "GAMBO" portrays a mountain village tormented by a ferocious red demon, forcing villagers to offer up young girls for survival. The last girl in the village (voiced by Mutsumi Tamura) encounters a terrifying white bear in the forest and shares her troubles, and to her surprise, the bear seems to understand and attacks the red demon's lair. "Farewell to Arms" features a group of fully armed soldiers arriving in a ruined city, on high alert and preparing for battle, solely to capture an unmanned war vehicle.
