After World War II, Leah (played by Ingrid Bergman) is targeted by the FBI as the daughter of a war criminal. Utilizing her guilt over her father's crimes and his connections within the Nazi network, she embarks on an investigation of Nazi leader Cebast (played by Claude Rains) to gather information to convict him. Federal agent Dio (played by Cary Grant) falls deeply in love with the charming Leah during their collaboration. However, their relationship must be subordinated to national interests, leading him to set aside his feelings and painfully allow Leah to become involved with Cebast. While feeling deeply betrayed, Leah also serves as a spy in Cebast's life amid a perilous environment.
When Leah finally uncovers crucial information about Cebast, she is shocked to discover that he has uncovered her true identity. Yet, Cebast has his own concerns about potential exposure, and he devises a subtle scheme to eliminate Leah. Her situation becomes increasingly perilous, with the spy plan shrouded in suspense.
