Marie (Maj-Britt Nilsson) is a young ballet dancer whose exceptional technique and beauty promise a bright future in the industry. By chance, she meets a man named Henrik (Birger Malmsten) at her uncle's house, and Henrik's handsomeness and gentleness attract Marie's attention. Undoubtedly inexperienced in matters of the heart, Marie quickly becomes involved with Henrik. However, it isn't long before her inner confusion and insecurity lead her to doubt her initial choice. Later, Henrik suffers a head and back injury in an accident, a turn of events that brings an end to Marie and Henrik's relationship. Heartbroken, Marie dedicates all her energy to her ballet career and achieves notable success, yet as time goes on, her inner pain does not lessen. The emergence of a diary prompts Marie to reminisce about her youthful days, igniting her determination to embark on a journey in search of that memory.
