In the late Ming Dynasty, treacherous officials are in power, and the loyal general of the court is framed and has his family confiscated, leaving only his young son, Yuan Chengzhi (played by Yuan Biao), to escape. Sixteen years later, Yuan Chengzhi has grown up and inadvertently acquires a martial arts manual and a treasure map, beginning his treasure-seeking journey. During this time, Yuan Chengzhi witnesses the collusion between Ming officials and bandits, leading to the suffering of the common people. Influenced by his father, he is determined to seek a path to strengthen the country. On his journey, he meets like-minded wealthy merchant Dorgon and they travel together. They encounter kidnappers and become embroiled in the enmity between martial arts sects and the Five Poisons Sect. Ultimately, Yuan Chengzhi resolves the conflicts with his open-mindedness and exceptional martial arts skills. To weaken the Qing Dynasty's threat to the Ming, Yuan Chengzhi decides to assassinate Emperor Taiji, only to discover that Dorgon is actually a prince of the Qing. In the end, following the treasure map, Yuan Chengzhi finally locates the treasure and presents it to the rebel leader, hoping he can restore the Ming Dynasty. However, the emperor of the Ming has no great aspirations, and Yuan Chengzhi is marginalized by the rebel leader's subordinates, while Qing influence continues to grow. Feeling that his ambitions cannot be fulfilled and becoming disheartened, he chooses to flee overseas.
