The movie "Gray Monkeys on the Yellow Flower Ridge" tells an absurd and bizarre crime comedy story. The film uses an "ancient pottery jar" as a starting point, leading to a series of diverse characters: a seemingly foolish yet wise small restaurant owner, a unscrupulous businessman who forgets righteousness for profit, a righteous elder, a self-interested petty person, a kind-hearted and simple girl, and a gold-digging young woman. The variously styled characters, along with a range of tricky troublesome events, are cleverly intertwined with the main storyline of the "ancient pottery jar." Director Zhang Pu opts for a multi-perspective narrative approach, allowing the plot to be intricately connected, first presenting the suspense and then revealing the clues little by little like peeling an onion, making it thought-provoking.
