This film is a true representation of actor Jia Hongsheng's unbearable years in the 1990s, with Jia Hongsheng and his family returning to reflect on their respective identities. Jia Hongsheng was once a promising young actor. From 1987 to 1993, he starred in nearly ten films, including "Summer Expectations," "The Murder of the Silver Snake," "Beijing, You are Early," and "Weekend Lover," gradually gaining some fame. During this time, he became fascinated with rock music and regarded John Lennon of The Beatles as his spiritual father; however, he also got involved with marijuana and soft drugs, which were not in line with the rock spirit. Since then, he stopped taking roles, becoming extreme, paranoid, and hysterical, making it impossible for him to interact with others. His parents, who lived far away in Siping in Northeast China, retired early and moved the whole family to Beijing to prevent their son from sinking further. Everything that followed felt like an endless war. Jia Hongsheng fell to his death on the afternoon of July 5, 2010, at the age of 43.
