It tells the story of the creative process behind a record by PJ Harvey. Writer and musician Harvey collaborates with acclaimed photographer Seamus Murphy. Harvey wants to write about several countries in her work, and to experience life in these countries firsthand, she joins Murphy on his global reporting journey multiple times. Together, they visit Afghanistan, Kosovo, and Washington. Harvey is responsible for documenting the text, while Murphy takes photographs. Upon returning, they work together to transform the material into poems and songs, and record these works in an unprecedented format at Somerset House in London. In a house built of one-way glass, the public can watch the five-week recording process under the condition of no photography. Murphy captures this experiment as part of their private travel notes. The film focuses on the impact of the people and places they encounter during their journey, centering on the expression of humanity, and tells the story of how this material becomes songs and films.
