The wife of a Ceylon plantation owner, frustrated with her husband's dullness, falls in love with another man. After enduring cholera, monsoons, and elephant herds, she realizes that her husband is the one she loves most. However, Oliver encourages Vivien Leigh to accept an invitation to act, despite not accepting the lead role himself. At this time, Oliver's self-founded theater company is on the brink of bankruptcy, and the high salary that Vivien earns from the film would undoubtedly be beneficial. Thus, Vivien Leigh embarks on a journey to the tropical jungles of Ceylon, where her life’s tragedy faces new trials.
