Kanai Ito (played by Mizuki Tanimura), who works at a television station in Tokyo, receives the shocking news of her mother's death one day. In a rush, she returns to her long-absent hometown of Okuhida in Gifu Prefecture. Okuhida is a small town that once thrived due to its mines, but as the mining industry declined and the local population dwindled, many places and facilities that left beautiful memories for Kanai have become abandoned. In her low spirits, Kanai reunites with Mr. Okura (played by Suzuki Matsuo), who retains a childlike heart. To revitalize local tourism, Okura goes to great lengths to develop projects such as a mining theme park roller coaster and cycling on the tracks. At the same time, the local inn owner (played by Tetsugo Tsurumi) is also trying hard to attract visitors; his son, Shinichi (played by Keita Machida), is Kanai's elementary school classmate but is determined to become a cowboy in America.
