One day, a new defense request comes in for lawyer Takamori Takiko (Kikukawa Rei)...Insurance company recruiter Sumura Satoko (Ishida Hikari) is arrested on suspicion of murdering her unemployed husband, Kanekichi (Shibukawa Kiyohiko). On the night of the incident, the inebriated Kanekichi, known for his terrible drinking habits, assaulted his wife Satoko. She claims that, in order to protect their only son Takashi (Tokita Sotaro) from domestic violence, she was forced to kill her husband.Given that the suspect is the wife of a DV victim and that her unemployed husband was financially dependent on her, the case garnered significant attention related to women's rights. A request for defense from a women's organization supporting Satoko became a huge opportunity for Takiko to gain honor. With the encouragement of the law firm director, Kurihara Hidehiko (Terada Osamu), who says, "It may be difficult to claim self-defense, but if we aim for leniency and get probation, it'll be as good as winning for a lawyer," Takiko decides to take on Satoko's defense.Takiko strongly argues for self-defense and aims for an acquittal, but Satoko, on the other hand, readily admits to the crime of murdering her husband, prepared to face punishment, and seems solely concerned about her son Takashi. However, a new fact emerges: Kanekichi had a mistress. Wakiwara Shizuyo (Hinata Akiko), the owner of the bar "Mimosa," was a senior of Satoko in high school, had an affair with Kanekichi, and is a suspicious figure. And so the trial began. The defense lawyer Takiko claimed self-defense and sought acquittal, while the prosecution insisted that there was intent to kill, leading to a direct confrontation between the two sides. On the day of the verdict, the judge opened his heavy mouth... "The decision is to sentence the defendant to three years in prison. However, the execution of this sentence is to be suspended for two years from the day of this judgment." Tears fell from Satoko's eyes. It was a trial that achieved a de facto victory, but there was still the possibility of appealing for acquittal based on self-defense, which Takiko indicated, prompting Satoko to ask, "Isn't it true that a trial cannot be retried?" She then expressed her resolve not to appeal, saying, "Considering Takashi, it’s painful to continue the trial any longer. I don't want to be exposed to public scrutiny anymore." With the public's attention and Takiko's reputation as a skilled lawyer, offers to run for the House of Councillors also came in, indicating a possible entry into politics. Everyone thought this was the end...However, one day, a phone call rang out at Takiko's home. It was a call announcing the beginning of a horrifying tragedy that no one could have anticipated...
