In the film directed by Kingsley (Jeremy Irons), Nikki (Laura Dern) plays a woman named Susan, whose lover in the story is portrayed by Devon (Justin Theroux) as Billy. There's a legend about this movie that the first crew to film the script encountered some terrifying and bizarre experiences, leading to the film's abandonment. Nikki has a controlling husband, and under the immense pressure from him, Nikki subconsciously retreats into the fictional character of Susan. As time goes on, strange people appear around Nikki, and unexplainable events happen in her life, leaving Nikki in chaos and confusion, unable to distinguish whether she is Nikki or Susan.
