Mariam lives with her younger brother and her mother Farida in a small apartment in Karachi, Pakistan. After Mariam's grandfather passes away, his brother tries to force them to transfer the apartment to him. This is quite common in Pakistan due to the lack of robust protection mechanisms for women's property rights. Mariam's mother, struggling with the dual burdens of grief and loneliness, is unable to make rational decisions. Mariam is resentful of her mother's ineptitude. During this time, she develops feelings for a classmate and finds solace in that connection. However, when their relationship takes an unexpected turn, Mariam begins to descend into nightmares. Meanwhile, her mother is trapped between a domineering uncle and a complicated legal system, completely neglecting her daughter's deteriorating mental state. Mariam's nightmares gradually intertwine with reality. The mother and daughter must unite to ultimately overcome the ambiguous forces that threaten to consume them.
