From a young age, Ishikawa Rikuo (played by Tetsuya Watari) aspired to become part of the underworld and joined the Kawada Group in 1940. He worked hard for the growth of the organization but was never fully utilized due to his violent and aggressive temperament, leaving him frustrated. After the war, Ishikawa and his friend Imai Kosaburo (played by Chiezo Kataoka), whom he met in a prison in Hokkaido, launched an attack on a Chinese gang. During the war, Ishikawa met a barmaid, Keiko (played by Hiromi Taki), and with the police’s indulgence, Imai took over a Chinese-run casino and formed the Imai Group. Ishikawa stabbed a member of the Ikebukuro Shinwa-kai, escalating tensions between the two factions. Kawada, the group leader, paid Americans to intervene and settle matters. Soon after, Ishikawa, reprimanded, blew up the car of Kawada's senior leader, Nozu Kosaburo (played by Noboru Ando), leading to a series of troubles and severe reprimands from Kawada. Drunk, Ishikawa stabbed the group leader, committing a grave taboo and was expelled from Tokyo by the gang for ten years. After a year of addiction in Osaka, Ishikawa returned to Tokyo, but due to pressure from Kawada, Imai's relationship with him deteriorated, and Ishikawa aimed his gun at the chest of his former sworn brother...
