The story begins and ends in Montreal. A writer in search of inspiration (Rafe Spall) accidentally learns about the legendary tale of Pi Patel (Irrfan Khan). Pi's father (Adil Hussain) runs a zoo. Due to this unique environment, young Pi (Suraj Sharma) has a distinct perspective on faith and human nature. When Pi turns 17, his parents decide to immigrate to Canada for a better life, and he must leave his first love behind. On the ship to Canada, they encounter a cruel French chef (Gérard Depardieu). That night, a storm that initially excites Pi turns into a catastrophe that swallows the cargo ship. Miraculously, Pi survives, drifting on a lifeboat in the Pacific Ocean, accompanied by an unexpected companion—a Bengal tiger named Richard Parker. Thus begins the incredible adventure...
