In 1901, in the southernmost part of South America, on Chile's Tierra del Fuego, a wealthy Spanish businessman owned vast lands and erected fences to graze sheep. However, the indigenous people who had long inhabited the area did not understand the capitalist concept of private property and infuriated the businessman by hunting sheep without permission. The businessman hired brutal former British officers and American mercenaries, along with a mixed-race local as a guide, to "clear" a safe route to the seaside. As the iron hooves of colonization clattered, the embellishments of history replayed; it turned out that this path to the birth of a nation was littered with corpses and lies.
