Plot: Massa, a worker in his thirties, is passionate about his job and earns the boss's appreciation, but because of this, he becomes estranged from all his coworkers. One day, he loses a finger due to a workplace accident, and everything changes. Besides him, all the workers unite against the boss. His own life falls apart; his mistress leaves him, his wife takes their son after the divorce, and he stands on the wrong side, naively believing in the hollow and unrealistic slogans of the college students, ultimately suffering collateral damage and being fired by the boss. The collective strike halts production in the factory; the workers demand contract revisions and better treatment, while also hoping for Massa's reinstatement. Later, the boss asks Massa to return to work during the strike by others, and Massa agrees, but when he returns to the factory gate, he cannot face the workers gathered there. In his shame, he finally understands the workers' firm stance: there will be no compromise until the issue is reasonably resolved. Behind the scenes: The film won the Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival. It contains many elements of social reality and is a politically charged film with characteristics of its time. Through the character of Massa, the “confused worker,” it reflects the dilemmas people faced during that era, trapped between revolutionary ideals and real-world difficulties. The entire film continues the theme and style of the director's previous work, "Investigation of a Citizen Above Suspicion," but shifts its focus to explore the changing mindset and psychological activities of the working class.
