The new work by renowned Hungarian director György Pálfi, who previously caused a stir with "Taxidermia" and "Final Cut," is adapted from the novel of the same name by Polish science fiction writer Stanisław Lem. Set against the backdrop of Iron Curtain history, it tells the story of military competition during the Cold War. A Hungarian man accidentally sees a documentary and catches a glimpse of his father, who abandoned him and disappeared for years. Armed with old photos and footage, he travels to the United States in search of his father. What should have been a heartwarming reunion increasingly feels wrong. He unexpectedly uncovers a military conspiracy that is historically significant, and it even involves the U.S. military's secret extraterrestrial research; the shadow of the Cold War still looms over the lives of ordinary people. The director is particularly adept at incorporating elements of madness, and this time he adds a science fiction plot that explores the pursuit and obsession of humanity and familial love.
