Prem (played by Salman Khan) meets and gets to know Nisha (played by Madhuri Dixit) through the marriage of his brother Rajesh (played by Anupam Kher) and Nisha's sister Pooja. Later, Pooja becomes pregnant, and Nisha comes to take care of her. During their time together, Prem and Nisha fall in love. However, happiness doesn't last long. In an accident, Pooja tragically dies, and Rajesh falls seriously ill due to the immense shock. Nisha's father hopes that his daughter will marry Rajesh, so she can take care of him and the child. Prem and Nisha decide to sacrifice their feelings for the greater good.
