During the later stages of the Liberation War, following the victorious conclusion of the three major campaigns, the Central Committee and Chairman Mao made strategic decisions, ordering Liu Bocheng (played by Fu Xuecheng) and Deng Xiaoping (played by Lu Qi) to lead parts of the Second and Fourth Field Armies into Hunan, Hubei, Guizhou, and Sichuan, encircling and annihilating the remaining enemies in the southwest. On the way south, Deng Xiaoping inquired about the construction of the Chengyu Railway from a railway expert he encountered and provided timely political education courses to the advancing troops, implementing Chairman Mao's great teachings of "carrying the revolution to the end."
