Directed by Agnès Varda, known as the "grandmother of the French New Wave" in 1991, this documentary is a biographical account of her husband, the famous French director Jacques Demy, known for "The Umbrellas of Cherbourg" and "The Young Girls of Rochefort." Jacques Demy was a child in the late 1930s; his father owned a garage and his mother was a hairdresser, which provided them with a stable family life. He loved singing and was passionate about movies, fascinated by all forms of performance. He bought a camera to shoot his first amateur film. This film offers a comprehensive look at Jacques Demy's childhood and career through the perspective of his closest loved ones.
