Jungle, demons, and a mysterious young woman: Mexican director Yuleni Olejaro's new film delves into the mythological world of the Maya. In 1920, a green no man's land between Mexico and Belize. A group of Mexicans is tapping tree bark in the primeval forest, a sticky substance used by the Maya as chewing gum. Suddenly, the men discover an unconscious young woman and bring her to their camp. The appearance of this mysterious stranger raises tension among the men and sparks their imagination. One by one, they fall under her spell, but it is too late as they realize they have awakened the Maya demoness Xtabay lurking in the heart of the jungle.
