In the monastery, everything seems so peaceful. Just as Emma is about to take her vows to become a nun, her estranged brother, Eli, suddenly visits and demands a share of their deceased father's inheritance. Emma is an angel, while Eli is just a drunken layabout, despised by all. Emma's retreat is disrupted, and dark secrets from the past begin to surface one by one. Even prayers to God fail to bring her inner peace, forcing her to self-harm as punishment; through theft and lies, she attempts to conceal the unbearable truth. Determined to serve God, she finds herself drifting further away from Him. This debut film by Danish director Katrine Blaubach explores the symbiotic relationship between saints and sinners, perfection and flaws. In the silence of tragedy, redemption does not come from God, but from oneself.
