This is an epic by Godard mocking human nature, and this is my viewpoint; because all the iconic elements of that era can be found in this film: desire, power, war, shadows, communism, opposition, mockery, as well as nihilism and absurdity; when we bundle this large package of vocabulary together, the thorns we touch are astonishing. I assert that this is a punk wrapped in a director's guise, for the two films I watched in 2000, one being the more shocking "Weekend" and the other being this "The Gunman."
