Donald (Colin Firth) is a struggling small businessman whose invention of a new navigation device has failed to gain market recognition due to its limited audience, leaving him ashamed before his family. The Global Sailing Competition organized by The Times catches Donald's attention, and he decides to risk everything to participate in the race to regain his last shred of dignity. The competition is extremely grueling, and Donald must complete the long journey alone, during which his boat cannot dock. As the initial excitement fades, Donald gradually becomes overwhelmed by fear of the unknown. Meanwhile, the townspeople and his neighboring families have come to see him as a sailing hero with high expectations, putting Donald in a difficult position from which he cannot back down. The unexpected incidents that Donald fears begin to happen one after another.
