The film tells the story of Alain Marégo's predicament—based on a true case: In 2001, examining magistrate Uter ordered the arrest of Alain and more than a dozen other suspects on charges of serious child trafficking, but the suspects refused to plead guilty. This caused the lives of these innocent people to suddenly descend into hell, with their lives and relationships shattered by the case. The film recounts this famous miscarriage of justice in French judicial history from Alain Marégo's perspective, presenting viewers with an incredible, unjust, and inhumane judicial system.
