Far from the metropolis at Mutou Station, a beautiful girl named Maiko Koiwa (played by Maki Horikita) arrives. Maiko lives in a Tokyo apartment with her brother Yoshio (played by Ryuhei Matsuda), who works at a pachinko parlor, and she is striving to become an anime voice actress. Not long ago, their long-absent mother Ayako (played by Kumiko Yoko) suddenly appears before the siblings. Yoshio and Maiko hold a cold attitude towards their mother due to her abandonment in the past, and their feelings do not change even when Ayako passes away from late-stage cancer. Since Yoshio is busy, Maiko takes her mother's ashes back to Mutou for burial.
