This is a new realist Italian film. The film tells the story of three young men—Francesco, Sergio, and Antonio—living a carefree life in a poor village. Since all three are unemployed, they spend their days wandering the streets and chasing girls. One day, Antonio's aunt invites him to live with her and his cousin in Rome. He accepts her invitation and enrolls in a university in Rome, leaving his two friends behind, who envy his new upscale lifestyle. However, Antonio eventually returns to the village, initially just for a day. Despite boasting about his life, he never returns to Rome, choosing instead his friends and the place where he grew up, despite its many shortcomings.
