Adapted from a long poem by Hungarian patriotic poet Sándor Petőfi. The story tells of a young boy, John, who has been in love with a girl named Iluska since childhood, but is forced away from his hometown due to the interference of his beloved's stepmother, embarking on a long journey. After enduring a series of hardships, John earns the help of giants through kindness, courage, and wisdom, and finally reunites with his beloved girl.
