A young student (played by Eiji Takahashi) takes a trip during his vacation and encounters a group of traveling Kabuki performers while in Izu Yukawa. Among them, a clever and charming young dancer (played by Sayuri Yoshinaga) with an old-style hairstyle draws the student's attention. He consciously follows the troupe of artists from Bofu Port and accompanies them to Shimoda. Along the way, they engage in laughter and conversation, and the student gradually becomes closer to the performers, becoming enamored with the underage dancer Akane. In the warm, humid southern land, the student finds himself in a pure love, while also troubled by the helplessness of reality... This version is based on the early novella of the same name by Yasunari Kawabata and marks the fourth adaptation of this novel on the screen.
