Based on the novel of the same name by Jane Austen. Elizabeth Bennet (played by Keira Knightley) comes from a small landowner family and has four sisters. Their mother, Mrs. Bennet, is constantly worried about finding suitable husbands for her daughters. The arrival of new neighbor Mr. Bingley and his friend Darcy (played by Matthew Macfadyen) disrupts their monotonous country life. Bingley and Elizabeth's sister Jane Bennet develop feelings for each other; Darcy is attracted to the kind and intelligent Elizabeth, but Elizabeth harbors prejudices against Darcy's arrogant demeanor and rejects his affections. However, as events unfold, misunderstandings put Bingley and Jane's relationship in jeopardy, and Darcy's actions reveal his kind nature, which gradually wins Elizabeth over. Will the two couples end up together? Can the Bennet sisters achieve the lives they desire? The rural life and social aspects of early 19th-century England, as depicted by Jane Austen, are brought back to the big screen.
