A poor but determined Mongolian boy, gifted in physics, aspires to win the Academic Olympic competition. However, before he can attempt to change his fate with knowledge, he must face a harsh reality: his single mother, who struggles with alcoholism, returns to her hometown for work. He insists on staying in Ulaanbaatar to continue his studies, but in order to ensure his younger siblings have enough to eat during the harsh winter, he is forced to take on illegal work.
