Many years ago, the Queen of Atlantis (Nicole Kidman) fell in love with a human, and together they brought forth the fruit of their love—the child later known to land dwellers as Arthur Curry (Jason Momoa). As he grew up, Arthur underwent rigorous training under his underwater mentor, Nudis, yearning to see his mother, which was a luxury he could not afford as the illegitimate son of mixed heritage. Meanwhile, Arthur's half-brother Orm (Patrick Wilson) became the king of Atlantis. Discontent with the pollution and degradation of the ocean by land dwellers, he plotted to unite other underwater kingdoms to wage a full-scale war against the land.
