Kevin Flynn (played by Jeff Bridges) is a genius programmer, but a game software he developed was stolen by a former colleague. In order to prove it was his work, Kevin tries to access the control program MCP at his ex-colleague's company, only to find that it has become powerful enough to control other programs at will. Kevin seeks help from colleague Alan (played by Bruce Boxleitner), who designs a program called Tron to restrain the MCP.
