The story takes place during World War II, where Walter (played by Garry Marshall) is a once-famous baseball star who has now fallen to the sidelines. He decides to form an unprecedented women's baseball team. He recruits the tall and beautiful Dottie (played by Geena Davis), and Dottie's sister Kit (played by Lori Petty) also joins the team following her sister's lead. Afterward, the addition of skilled players like Marla (played by Megan Cavanagh) significantly strengthens the team. Despite facing several setbacks, Walter's "women's army" gradually gains recognition in the sports world. However, at this critical moment, infighting occurs within the team, leading Marla and Kit to leave, and Walter considers giving up. Just then, the return of Dottie's husband Bob (played by Bill Pullman), who is fighting on the front lines, brings new hope to the team.
