When 32-year-old Rain (played by William Tjokro) reflects on the past, he discovers that the story begins on the day the mysterious Kris (played by Natalius Chendana) stood up to protect him from being bullied by school delinquents. The dominant Kris takes charge of his friendship with Rain, often staying overnight at Rain's house and demanding that he cut ties with other friends, while he himself appears with a different girlfriend every night. As a gay man, Rain struggles to understand Kris's behavior, and Kris's sudden disappearance plunges him into despair. Ultimately, he endures that period and experiences a series of romantic encounters during a trip to Bangkok. Many years later, he receives another invitation from Kris, who has married and settled in Bali; why does he yearn for a reunion? This film is the debut feature of director Andri Cung, who attempts to convey the different ways people can derive meaning from their experiences, including the efforts they make to avoid falling into irreversible situations. Aside from the melancholic narration and several dramatic closed scenes, most of the film exudes sharp, passionate, and sincere emotions, with performances that are quite fitting. The stable three-act structure and high-quality audiovisual language significantly enhance the film, which also conceals temptation and emotional tension beneath the surface.
