As the suffering of the people deepens, God sends His son Jesus (played by Enrique Irazoqui) into the world. Inspired, the young girl Mary (played by Margherita Caruso) gives birth to Jesus as a virgin and raises him together with her fiancé Joseph (played by Marcello Morante). Jesus loves the world so much that he guides people sincerely towards goodness through various miracles, and his followers grow in number. However, the world has become corrupt, with greed and brutality dominating. Those shameless rulers decide to eliminate this holy son from heaven... The film employs a large number of non-professional actors, with the Virgin Mary portrayed by the director Pier Paolo Pasolini's mother.
