A naive countryside boy from Taiwan, Ah Liang, plays in a mysterious, dilapidated old temple that has been burned for unknown reasons. While he struggles to climb to the roof of the old temple, he unexpectedly enters a fantastical world. Ah Liang first encounters a group of deity figurines and then experiences a series of magical events. When Ah Liang is bullied by others, a mysterious boy named Ah Tai steps in to rescue him. Soon, Ah Tai becomes a good friend of Ah Liang. After that, the two boys surprisingly return to the time when the temple was bustling with activity, and Ah Liang discovers the reason behind the temple's destruction. This digital animated short, based on Taiwanese local cultural stories and filled with magical religious elements, is a project subsidized by the Taiwan Cultural and Arts Foundation and took two years to complete. The film won the Excellence Award for Best Animated Film at the 2011 Taiwan Golden Harvest Awards.
