The story is set against the backdrop of the "Simian Flu" virus spreading globally, bringing humanity to the brink of destruction, while apes, having evolved into advanced intelligent beings, leap to become the rulers at the top of the food chain. In this changed world, the tyrannical ape leader Caesar (played by Kevin Durand) establishes the first empire in ape history—"Dawn of the Planet of the Apes," marking the dawn of a new world order. The appearance of a mysterious human girl, Nova (played by Freya Allan), raises Caesar's alarm. She seems to hold a huge secret that not only concerns the survival of humanity but may also once again overturn the entire "Planet of the Apes."
