Takagi Kazuko (played by Yoshino Kimura), the manager of a bookstore, experienced a family upheaval during her teenage years, being forced to separate from her brother. Many years later, her brother Asano Mamoru (played by Aoi Nakamura) lives a simple and happy life with his foster father (played by Ren Osugi), while Kazuko can only bless him silently from a distance. Until one day, a series of unexpected events shatter everything. Kazuko had previously worked in elderly care, where her peer Yukimi (played by Eiko Koike) lured Kazuko and others into a nursing scam. Now, members of the team involved in the scam are dying one after another in accidents, and Mamoru’s foster father goes to prison for accidentally hitting one of the accomplices. At this time, Kazuko approaches her isolated brother, and a series of seemingly magically-tinged phone calls gradually lead them to a dead end… This film is adapted from the novel of the same name by Yuki Miyabe.
