In 1939, the Sino-Japanese War raged fiercely. Young nurse Nishiyakura (played by Ayako Wakao) is sent to work at a Japanese army hospital in Tianjin. Her pure beauty attracts young soldiers who have faced life and death. One night, Sakura is raped by a group of injured soldiers led by Sakamoto (played by Jōtarō Senba). As punishment, Sakamoto is redeployed to the battlefield. Two months later, the situation worsens. Sakura is dispatched to assist at a frontline hospital in Shinken. Here, countless soldiers are wounded due to the war. Sakura and the chief doctor Okabe (played by Shinsuke Ashida) work tirelessly every day. To save more lives, they must even resort to amputations to shorten treatment time. During this period, Sakura encounters the gravely wounded Sakamoto and comforts the suffering Corporal Oreha (played by Yūsuke Kawazu), while gradually developing feelings for Dr. Okabe.
In an era of war, even the smallest happiness seems extravagant and hopeless...
