A young photographer, Nakahara Kou (played by Jun Matsumoto), struggles alone in Tokyo, standing at a crossroads in life. One day, he is dispatched by his magazine to his hometown, Hagi City in Yamaguchi Prefecture, for a photo shoot. Although he feels indifferent towards this seaside town that he finds utterly unremarkable, he has no choice but to go. His long-absent fisherman father (played by Jyun Kunimura), his divorced sister Minami (played by Naho Toda) who has returned home, and his precocious young nephew Souta (played by Kai Naru), do not evoke much nostalgia for his hometown. During a visit to his alma mater, he unexpectedly reunites with his ex-girlfriend Natsuki (played by Nana Eikura), who has become a teacher at the school. Under Natsuki's strong influence, Kou is forced to accompany a children’s choir as a pianist. To participate in the NHK National School Choir Competition, Natsuki and the children work tirelessly. In this process, Kou and those around him undergo subtle changes in their feelings, and the distant dreams of the past seem to become clearer...
